Read Aimless, Part 1 here.
Another impromptu decision was made as we approached the corner that leads to the top part of the Maguyam trail.
“Diyan sa kanto na yan papuntang Maguyam trail (That’s the corner that leads to the Maguyam trail),” Doc told me as we pedaled towards it.
Then a light bulb flashed on.
“Saan ang bagsak natin niyan? (Where does the trail end?)” I asked.
“Dun sa baba, sa intersection (Down below, at the previous intersection),” he answered.
I grinned. “Let’s do that trail!”

Last week plans were made with Tugel for a Cardiac Hill climb in Sta. Rosa today. The whole day Monday not a word was heard from him. I was looking forward to this ride as I haven’t been riding lately — not by choice. Weather’s been $#!t.
Monday night I sent out a text to Tugel and Allan C., both Team Prima teammates, confirming Tuesday’s Cardiac Hill ride.

Browsing some old photos I came across this picture of my youngest and I riding. This was taken at the Filinvest mountain bike trail circuit.
I clearly remember this shot. I was riding with him as his two older brothers were riding the tracks. The training wheels take the fun out of riding the trails for him so I stay on the pavement (closed road, no motorized vehicles allowed, except for security motorcycles) and ride beside him and match his pace.

Hey Junkies,
As you may have noticed I haven’t been sharing any of my latest adventures. Reason being is the lack of riding opportunities — mostly because of rain.
Weather’s too messed up right now. Most of the time when I’m free to go out on a ride, even a short one, and solo, rain would either start to fall as I prepare or it’ll start 10 minutes after I take off (if I decide to push through).

That’s one of the main problems bike commuters in the Philippines have. Ours being a third world country it’s no surprise our streets are suddenly being populated by bike commuters from all walks of life – from people who only have a beat up and wiggling bike as their main and only form of transportation to those who are members of 2-car (at least) families.
Bike parking is a problem as only bike shops, and, lately, a bike rider-conscious owner of a gas station are the only ones I am aware of that provide semi-safe bike parking. Sure, there may be other establishments but my point is they may only comprise of 1%, give or take. Not included government institutions who I think should set a good example. But then, when did the Philippine government ever be a good example overall?

Email subject: 2010 Top Blog!
Huh? I asked myself. Spam? Scam? Sham? I clicked on it to open the email.
“Congratulations!” That’s the first word (OK, first word after the greeting) on the email I got last Friday, which I only saw last Monday since I had a tiring Saturday of riding and hiking (hike-a-bikes!) at Mt. Batulao with a few friends — decided to rest, read, kill time with the family on Sunday.
I continued reading the email:

“Wanna do Tagaytay tomorrow?”
That’s the message I got from John. I verified if he was thinking of pedaling all the way to Tagaytay. He said yes. So I started wondering what the heck he has eaten.
I have my doubts as he has been saying how much he hates uphill climbs (as with any newcomer to biking), then this sudden invitation.
I asked for details like his chosen route, take-off time, other attendees, etc. Turns out it was just me and him.
