The MTB Junkie signing in!
The idea behind The MTB Junkie was given to me by my wife, on this day, the first day of 2009. As of this writing I have only been mountain biking for less than a year, and with every ride, with every time I mount the saddle, I’ve felt myself slowly getting addicted to riding the bike.
With that I have been riding more often than the regular weekend rides with my group, the Backout Boys, and my set 2-day weekday rides, usually solo road rides.
Being a newbie I was content on riding on the road, even if it meant looking like an idiot (a rider on a mountain bike riding on the road?!), but then I knew it was part of my training to become comfortable on the trails; I was also working on building up my stamina and endurance.
As I progressed and rode more often, due to a good friend of mine who seems to also have free time in the morning, I couldn’t say no when he invites me for a ride, I got quite comfortable on trails. Riding consecutive days inside the trails only emphasized how much fun riding the bike in the trails is than just staying on the road — like what I used to do when I was real new to mountain biking.
It started around November of 2008, when I found others willing to accompany me during my weekday rides (due to my search for new & old riding buddies to kill the boredom of my solo weekday rides) I was riding quite often. Gradually it built up on me riding every single day until 2008 ended.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
