Via YM, KOS invited me to ride with them today at Timberland, where the Head for the Hills charity race and the Splash MTB XC Challenge were held (where the Head for the Hills Downhill race will also take place).
After finding out who the attendees were I was so tempted to join them: my 4×4 friends and fellow club members of the Vitara Club of the Philippines, whom I haven’t seen for the longest time, mainly due to my distance from the rest of them. My only problem was I’d have to pedal more than 100km (one way) just to get to the meeting place (vehicle is down, something’s wrong with the transmission, it broke my clutch pedal — yes, the pedal! — for the 2nd time).
After psyching myself out with the distance I prepared my hydropack last night for the trip. I set my alarm clock to 3:40 A.M. and planned to leave at 5 A.M. at the latest. Hopefully I can get there around 7 A.M.
I woke up from the alarm, got out of bed at 4 A.M. Prepared my coffee, prepared my breakfast.
I don’t eat fat from my meat so I went out to give it to Adore (my dog). As soon as I stepped out of the door I felt it pelting my skin. It was drizzling… shit. I didn’t want to bike alone, for more than 100km, under the rain.
I was hoping it’d stop immediately. But I heard the drainpipe from the roof starting to make noise, letting me know the drizzle is getting stronger. Well, I think that’s a sign I’d have to pass on this ride.
So I send a text message to KOS to let him know… damn…!
