Inspired by Nema!
With my “fuel gauge” on low I have decided not go out & ride today. To ease the pain (lol!) I justified this decision by convincing myself that the fun the Malipay trails brings me won’t burn out as soon as if rode it as often as I can, which is fairly often.
As I work I got to talking to Erick, owner of Nema, about business, Nema programs, me sharing pics of a friend’s ugly crash when he went downhilling, etc.
I asked for clarification on how Nema’s Contingency Program works. Erick informed me it’s only being used in the U.S.A. right now, but maybe, just maybe, we can try to apply it here in the Philippines.
With that I joked & told him I could use that as another reason to get my wife to not argue with me when I want to go out to ride, “It’s training.”
“Exactly,” he said, “Say it’s so you can get paid!”
I laughed, but then he has a point. I needed to develop my strength in riding so as not to get left behind in both recreational riding (erm, I meant “group training”) & in fun races I decide to join.
As I wait for the time when I need to start preparing my 5-year-old for school I have decided, with droopy & a slight sandy feeling in my eyes, that I will get the fuck out & ride my bike. Besides, even when I’m slightly tired, as soon as Darna’s tires touch the trail, I feel a good boost of energy from within accompanied by a satisfying & oh-so-familiar feeling of the rough trail just below me as I roll along. Bliss.
This is getting quite long, & time’s ticking! Gotta go… Gotta go out & ride!
Talk to you later, Erick, & thanks for the push.
