Malipay Assault with South Cycle

“Quickie ride tomorrow, Malipay, 6/6:30AM, Daang Hari PNP outpost?”
That was my text message Monday night to a few people when I realized I could do a quick ride the next morning around Malipay (again), while looking for people who are available & might want to join me.
Tantan responded telling me they’ll be meeting at 7:30 [...]

Inspired by Nema!

I’m lacking sleep. I just had to wake up early today to take care of the kids before they go to school. The 3 boys have different schedules in the morning to I can’t just prepare them all for school then go back to sleep.
With my “fuel gauge” on low I have decided not go [...]

Whole day quickie ride(s)

Last Monday was a national holiday. Since before the weekend I’ve been planning on getting my car from my friend’s repair shop in Q.C. which I was planning on getting by pedaling all the way from Cavite to his shop. My bike rack was left in the car since I pedaled home when I left [...]

Easy like Sunday morning…

I had to ride. I had too many rides canceled just this week due to a number of different reasons.
I felt the desperation yesterday. As soon as my 5-year-old left for school I was alone & it hit me suddenly — I should have prepared to go out for a ride. Timing is crucial in [...]

Roll out & back out!

Turning the curve at the top of this slight incline I take in a deep breath, pedal lighter, and took a sip from my water bottle. Then I looked straight ahead. I noticed something different on the top part of the scene before me. It was dark. Good thing I know I wasn’t blacking out. It was the sky. The sky and clouds in the general direction that I’m going was real dark. Something out of a sci-fi movie.

Palace in the Sky Cherry-Popping

Waiting for take off
It was my first time to do the Palace in the Sky climb last Friday, Aug. 21, 2009. What should have been a very looong and leisurely ride turned out to be a day of a few personal landmarks all done in 1 day, namely my first time to use my GoPro [...]

Malipay lust

After more than a month of not riding the Malipay trails — 3 weeks of almost non-stop rains and a few days of letting the mud dry — we decided to check the conditions yesterday. With me was the father-son team of Eugene and Daniel.

If it wasn’t for what the area looks like right now [...]

Record breaker!

When I reached the gate marking the end of the climb I saw it was closed. How are we going to get through if it’s locked, I though, taking note of the huge padlocks. We’ll deal with that later, I though to myself then quickly and gently I hit the gate with my front tire, while braking, and I check my watch immediately. 11:32 A.M.

I do a quick calculation. 48 minutes? Against my old record of 49 minutes? I laugh out loud!
