Yesterday (Thursday) as I was having my haircut Frank sent me a text message asking if I can ride today. After thinking twice of things I need to do I replied saying I’ll be able to ride. Going home I started sending text messages to the usual (and not-so-usual) suspects about the ride.
A few minutes after arriving home I started feeling warm. Something definitely is in the air, though it’s approaching Valentine’s Day it’s not love love love…
As the clock ticks I started feeling warmer. I’ve been feeling like this for days now but this is the first time I whipped out the thermometer for my own use (my youngest has also been sick). So I get a visual and traditional confirmation, I have fever.
Thinking maybe it’s just one of the withdrawal symptoms of not having been ridden for 6 days and counting (hopeful? He he!) I informed Doc Riz about my fever. I was also hopeful that maybe tomorrow I will feel better to be able to ride.
Doc Riz replied to my text messages with this sermon:
(edited to fix text-speak)
Don’t push yourself too much. Even us doctors and even athletes get sick too. Recovery takes some time. Listen to your body, you’re sick because there’s a prob.
A healthy individual becomes healthy because he listens to his body and knows the right timing for each of his activities. Always have time for rest and recovery. Replenish the losses!
So I’ve resigned myself to not riding for another day. Damn. But thanks for the concern, Doc
