The day before the just-concluded I-on Bike Extreme Games I was able to squeeze some time to do a short track reading. I sent a text out to Boomie asking if he wanted to meet me there and ride together. He did meet me there but decided on just bringing his motorbike, instead of his bicycle…!
Met other Mofos there, too, namely the husband and wife team of Dane and Piere with their daughter, King, and Victor.
Here’s a short video:

Nema just announced their 2010 contingency program recently. From one tweet they sent me I got the impression I’m tasked to do the first step in extending that program here.
Here’s what they told me:
@TheMTBJunkie get the team going out there and let’s see what we can do!
Cool! Anyway, here are the rules:

This is a submitted story by Myles of RushRabbit.
I started riding a bike when I was four years old, by the time I reached twelve I had crashed so many times, and in so many ways, that I swear I can’t even remember some of the more painful experiences I’ve had falling off the saddle. The letters B, M, and X especially, bring back a part of my childhood which I will forever relate with dust, teeth lying on the ground, and blood on my shirt collar. Read More »

It was a Thursday, 14th of January.
The day before, as what happens quite often lately, I’ve realized, I vowed to go out and ride — solo or not. But as the time nears when I’d really have to start preparing for the ride the high I got was starting to wither down.
I was undecided. Quick short ride or stay at home? Then I remembered an old, short entry I did about how Erick of Nema gave me a boost about going out there to train, or just to simply ride.

EDIT 2, Jan. 13, 2010 – At last, part 3 of 3 videos has been uploaded successfully! Watch it below.
EDIT, Jan. 10, 2010 – Finally, part 2 of 3 videos has been uploaded successfully! I have included the new video here. Watch it below.
Firstly, I can only show part 1 of a 3-part series of videos for this post. The thing is I’ve had the 3 parts ready for uploading but I can’t seem to upload them anywhere: Vimeo, Facebook, YouTube, etc. (Can anyone suggest another video hosting site I could use? Metacafe has such a small limit.)
I always get an error message.
But the videos of this ride is way overdue so I will be posting part 1 for now.
Continuing on…

At the Vitara Club of the Philippines Christmas party a few friends who also ride mountain bikes requested we organize a 4×4 Philippines mountain bike ride for us to get together again on our 2-wheeled rigs.
We decided to set the date 3 weeks away from when we first talked about it. Dec. 27, 2009, was the chosen date.
We were aware how a lot of 4-wheelers who have tried mountain biking stopped riding their bikes for various reasons so a newbie/beginner pace and route was planned.

January 3, 2010, I invited an old friend, Chris, who’s fairly new to mountain biking to visit us and try out the Malipay trails. Doc Riz & I have plotted a newbie-friendly route so as not to give Chris a hard time in the trails.
It being a Sunday the usual weekend riders were at the Daang Hari. One of the groups I saw were the South Cycle riders still waiting for some friends as our group was taking off from the police outpost, the usual meeting place.
In one of the areas inside Malipay my group stopped to wait for the stragglers. Then I saw some of the South Cycle riders again. I pedaled to them to say hello and saw that the more experienced riders were playing and teaching the others how to jump a gap. Immediately I put my bike down, looked for a good spot, and got my GoPro camera ready.

Inside the National Bilibid Prisons trail is a technical downhill section that ends in a moss-covered and rocky creek.
Leading the way was Chucky and I was following next. Behind me was Doc Riz’s brother Warren, his son John, and taking up the rear was Doc Riz.
