My eldest son has been sick (viral infection) since Wednesday and even with my wife home I couldn’t leave the kids alone with her though she has given me the go signal yesterday to ride today but I was still hesitant. My decision to ride would depend on how my son is doing.
My alarm clock didn’t wake up at the time I set it to (5:00 AM, our usual meeting time is at 6:30 AM) and I woke up a few minutes before 7:00 AM. I forced myself to get out of bed as my son will be needing to take his antibiotics in a few minutes.
As I was waiting for my eldest to finish his crackers my 2 younger sons started waking up, and my friends have been sending me text messages asking me where I am. After eating a real quick breakfast of crackers and a peanut butter sandwich with the boys (mommy was still sleeping) I started slowly preparing to ride… then my wife woke up. She reiterated the go signal so I informed my friends I will be riding.
Since it was already late (8:30 AM) I informed them if they needed to go I can just try and catch up with them inside the trails. Jun volunteered to wait for me.
We weren’t able to catch up with the others so we just rode and he led me to the network of trails in Malipay and Tubuhan (bamboo fields). We had to cross a small creek and it wasn’t fun as it was semi-rideable.
Weather was great! The sun wasn’t shining, there were scattered clouds, and the cold wind was blowing!
I clocked 33.64 km total. If only I could ride more I’m sure Jun would lead me to more fun trails… but I had to get back home and care for my family. We started our ride back home from inside the trail at around 11:15-11:30 AM, just in time for lunch at home.
